Mike Ford sat behind his desk at Parkwood Productions, staring at the 3x5 photos Mavis had printed. He shook his head and handed them across the desk.

“The guy doesn’t look familiar, Eddie.”

“How about the van? Think it’s the one that belched its way past your house on Sunday?”

“Looks similar. Can’t say for sure.”

“Did you get a look at the guy driving it?”

“Not really. Wasn’t he wearing a big-ass hat of some kind?”

“Hell, I can’t remember. I was focused on the brush across the street.”

Mike picked up the latest cut-and-paste letter. “This has to be faxed to LAPD. He practically admits to being at the scene.”

“Which makes him a murder suspect.”

Mike inserted the letter in his fax machine and sent it on its way. “And he knows you’re involved. How’d he do that?”

“Way I figure is he got the plate off my car. Looks like he traced it somehow to my name. He even showed up at my office this morning.”

“We’ll get him, Mr. Ford,” Reggie said. “We’ve got a partial license plate.”

“I hope so, Reggie. He’s getting too close.”
